    Harmony Celebrations

Harmony Week is a weeklong celebration recognising our diversity and bringing together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone.

In 2017, staff at Ballarat Community Health and Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre came together to discuss the concept of a ‘dance around the world’ event. Over the year, the concept evolved and by 2018, the Harmony Celebration format was finalised, including free food provided by Our Kitchen Social Enterprise and performances by four multicultural artists or activities.

Now a popular free event held on the first Friday night of the annual Harmony Week celebrations, the Harmony Celebration has grown from humble beginning with 60 to 70 attendees to over 250 attendees in recent years. Interactive and fun, the performances and activities have included Chinese Tai Chi, African Drummers, salsa dancing, Indian Bollywood dancers, henna tattoos, badge making, and tee-shirt decorating.

Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre is proud to partner with Ballarat Community Health to deliver this wonderful celebration of diversity and inclusion to our community.
