25 May 2026

Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre, in collaboration with Commerce Ballarat and the Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council, recently announced its new employment 'Mentoring Mature Age Women into Jobs' program.

Executive Officer, Vicki Coltman said 'The Ballarat project activities will be focused on job-ready training, industry-specific skills development, employer-led placements and wrap-around support for mature-aged women over 45.'

Funded by the Albanese Labor Government a total of 49 organisations will deliver Local Jobs, Local People projects that will better connect job seekers with employers, training and tailored assistance.

“The Local Jobs, Local People grants are an important tool to help Australian workers find employment." Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations Amanda Rishworth

The projects will be aligned to the workforce needs of each region, helping jobseekers move into work while supporting local employers.

$10 million in grants are being delivered as part of the extension of the Local Jobs Program to 30 June 2027.

Activities will relate to Local Jobs Plans in each Employment Region and focus on building skills and clear pathways into work. This includes where there are workforce shortages and in priority growth sectors such as manufacturing, care and support, digital and emerging technologies and the energy transition.

The Local Jobs Local People grants, which have been extended to 30 June 2027, will support people who experience barriers to employment.
