Celebrating Children’s Week at Family Fun Night!
A fantastic time was had by all at the Family Fun Night to celebrate Children’s Week in October 2024! Held on 25th October at St James’ Parish School in Sebastopol, this free event was for children aged 3-12 and featured face painting, balloons, sports, arts and crafts activities, an art display, historical artefact table, sausage sizzle, popcorn, fairy floss and healthy snacks.
There were also special visits from a Sebastopol Fire Brigade fire truck and the Grampians Health Community Ambulance. The event provided an opportunity for children to engage with their surroundings in a positive and enriching way, aligning with the 2024 Children’s Week theme “Children have the right to a clean and safe environment."

Family Fun Night was developed through a partnership that formed through the Connecting Sebastopol initiative, between Ballarat Neighbourhood Centre, Journey Early Learning Sebastopol & St. James’ Parish School. It was the first time the organisations had collaborated to create such an event. Organisers and attendees agreed it was a huge success and hope to work together on another event in future. This Children’s Week event was presented in partnership with the Victorian Government.
We would like to thank the following local organisations for their support: Sebastopol Historical Society, Sebastopol and District Lions Club, Sebastopol Fire Brigade, Grampians Health, Kelly Sports Greater Ballarat, Country Women’s Association Sebastopol Branch, Bunnings Delacombe, Ringin's Butchery, Bakers Delight Sebastopol, Mia + Talbot, Radmac Office Choice, Acclaimed Kids Party Hire and BalloonGirl.
